The following are project artifacts necessary to initiate a project:
- Project Charter
- Project Statement of Work (SOW)
- High-Level Business Case
- Enterprise Environmental Factors
- Organizational Process Assets
Organizational Process Assets
Organizational process assets (e.g., SharePoint®), also introduced in Chapter 1, can influence the development of a Project Charter and the initiation of a project, for example, because these may already be available and ought to be used as a result. For example, the existence of standard processes, policies, and process definitions may have already been established for the creation of Project Charters and Business Cases. Other organizational process assets that may already exist in an organization are templates, historical information, and lessons learned knowledge bases that may need to be applied to or referenced by projects.
